On May 20, 2025, at 2 PM in Aula Consulenze DISMA, we will have the pleasure of hosting a talk by
who is visiting Torino for an extended period. He will present a seminar titled
Abstract. We discuss an extension of time-frequency analysis of signals to operators, most notably density operators, based on a Schroedinger representation of phase space on the Hilbert-Schmidt operators. This leads one naturally to introduce analogs of the short-time Fourier transform and Cohen class representations for operators, etc.
These notions allow one to describe class of operators in terms of Gabor-type frames adapted to this setting. We indicate how this framework provides one with a natural description of quantum channels which is a double-phase space analog of the Gabor matrix of an operator, a useful tool in the study of pseudodifferential operators.
This talk is based on joint and ongoing work with Henry McNulty (Cognite AS, Oslo) and Thomas Strohmer (UC Davis).
